| Biography Mabon
is the son of Guto Prys ap Gwynfor and Sian Elis and is the grandson of
the politician, the late Gwynfor Evans.
As the son of a Minister, Mabon grew up in several places, Tal y Bont,
Ceredigion; the Teifi Valley; the Swansea Valley and a short period in
Guyana where the family went as missionaries. He was educated at schools
in Tal y Bont and Cwmann, Llandysul, Gwyr, and Ystalyfera, and graduated
from the University of Wales, Bangor.
Mabon is married to Nia and they have a 3 year old son, Elis Gruffydd.
After graduating, Mabon was elected President of the Student Union before
going on to work as a Press Officer to Simon Thomas MP and Elin Jones
AM in Ceredigion. He was then appointed Head of Communications for “Antur
Teifi”, a social enterprise company that assists the development
of the local economy in south west Wales. He was appointed as Manager
of Ty Siamas, the National Centre for Welsh Folk Music in Dolgellau in
2007 and in 2009, the north Wales Manager of one of the UK's largest health
charities.
Mabon was involved in the “Yes for Wales” campaign in 1997.
He represented the Party in many capacities whilst at University and is
a co-founder of the youth wing of Plaid Cymru, “Cymru-X”.
He stood as the Plaid Cymru Candidate for Parliament in the Brecon and
Radnor Constituency in 2005. Mabon was elected as Councillor for the central
ward in Aberystwyth and served until a work move to Dolgellau in 2007
required his resignation. Mabon was elected to the National Executive
of Plaid Cymru in 2005, 2008 and again in 2010, as coordinator for Dwyfor
Meirionnydd and Ceredigion. He served as the Chairman of Elfyn Llwyd MP’s
Westminster campaign in 2010. He is now the Clwyd South Plaid Cymru Candidate
for the 2011 National Assembly for Wales elections.
